The SBGMI believes in promoting sound beekeeping practices. While we understand that many will choose one way over another and that there is no one-size fits all approach, we endorse the condensing hive ideal promoted by many Northern beekeepers. Peggy presents a salient comparison in this presentation and offers digestible data for the novice and academic alike. Peggy will also provide listeners with a description of her product the “Hive Hugger” an insulation system for the condensing model.

Peggy DeSanto is a co-founder of Bee the Change LLC, a Minnesota based company whose mission is to provide science-based, high-tech winterization systems to improve the health and survival of honey bees. She will be doing a presentation on the Ventilated Hive vs. the Condensing Hive and will give an Intro to the Hive Hugger winterization system, which won the 2023 American Beekeeping Federation Best Innovation Award.
