Practical use of UBeeO in your Apiary with Phoebe Snyder, is currently the Co-Founder and COO of Optera, a company she founded with UNC Greensboro Research Scientist Kaira Wagoner. In this role, Snyder is working to develop and commercialize Optera’s main product offering UBeeO™, a pheromone-based tool designed to assist beekeepers in selectively breeding for mite and disease resistance. She will deliver a practical overview of the UBeeO product and it’s application for beekeepers in their own apiaries.

Hacks & Techniques from an Experimental Sideliner with Ryan Williamson, of Sourwood Farm is a second generation beekeeper running a full time sideline operation of 200-250 colonies with his family in Earlysville, Virginia. This presentation will focus on those tips, unique management techniques and equipment modifications that have proven useful in his operation with the hope that a few might be useful in yours.

Phoebe Snyder is currently the Co-Founder and COO of Optera, a company she founded with UNC Greensboro Research Scientist Kaira Wagoner. In this role, Snyder is working to develop and commercialize Optera’s main product offering UBeeO™, a pheromone-based tool designed to assist beekeepers in selectively breeding for mite and disease resistance. In addition to her work at Optera, Snyder manages several of her own hives and teaches beekeeping as an adjunct professor at Guilford College.

Ryan Williamson of Sourwood Farm is a second generation beekeeper running a full time sideline operation of 200-250 colonies with his family in Earlysville, Virginia. A proclivity to tinker and experiment has resulted in endless humbling mistakes but also occasional success.
